IREIGN

The origin of IREIGN

She was already home.

I

Los Angeles

It started with poems. A middle-schooler in Los Angeles, writing verses and framing them as gifts for her friends.

In classrooms and at summer camp, the poems started to move differently — she was experimenting with rap.

II

Westside Gangster

Then came Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio — far from home, but carrying it everywhere. They called her “Westside Gangster,” a nickname for an unmistakable West Coast identity.

Afro out, headphones on, she crossed campus with thousands of old-school hip-hop tracks loaded onto an SD card in a little Android phone.

Those years turned a love of poetry and hip-hop into a serious commitment: writing music.

The Return

Back in Los Angeles, she studied theatre at Loyola Marymount University and stepped into its entertainment showcase.

She saw it early: the industry might not simply make room for her. So instead of waiting for permission, she chose to build a career with staying power.

IV

Independent

She began recording on her own — including an early song called “Like Me.” Encouraged by a producer, she invested in her own equipment and built her own creative process.

The debut project 1 TIL, the singles that followed, and the newer project GEM IN I trace the evolution of her music and her storytelling.
